Today is about CHANGE. Well at least a chance for change.

Look at what has happened across the globe. We now have a black man in the Whitehouse, can you believe it... YES WE CAN! There's a lot we can learn from this man but mainly, especially as black people, that if you believe it - you can achieve it - WHATEVER THE GOAL. We need to get our acts together and become the great people we were destined to be. Plus, they make a beautiful First Family unit, something again more of us need to aspire to...

My life too has gone into overdrive and I have a few changes of my own to make and adjust to - not as much as Mr Obama, but still big in my small world. With this said, I've decided to go with the spirit of change and wrap up this blog for 2008. Mainly due to time, but also due to the fact that there are a few things about this blog, that I want to change. The software I have used to produce it, is rubbish!!! The comments don't work, the links don't always work, there's no spel check!!! The list goes on. Things need to change. It's time for something more dynamic, more interactive, more sexy - a real Blog damn it!!

So since taking it out on Saturday, today really is day six of the funky fro. Not bad. Last night I retwisted the front, only about six twists. I gelled it with the flaxseed and a little shea, brushed it out and twisted it down. It took about 15 minutes. I tied the rest back and covered it with my silk scarf before bed.

This is me this morning. Nice and serious. I saw this picture and thought of a picture I have of me aged of seven or eight??? It has the same serious face you see here...

My Rasta days. I was a true original dreadlocks child. I wore dreads in the days when it was about a religion and a lifestyle - Jah Rastafari, Haile Selassie, the twelve tribes Israel, vegetarianism and cannabis. Looking back now as an adult, it was a very hippy-ish upbringing. Dreadlocks back then were not embraced as they are now. They were seen by most as dirty and frowned upon. My grandparents weren't impressed. Dreadlocks then were not the beautiful, highly sought after Locs they have evolved into today. Look at the regrowth man. Organic. Anyway, I digress!

I then scrunched some gel on to the whole head to wake up those curls and then, more importantly, fixed up myself a piece before going outdoors. Et Voila...

1. A spray and shea butter, for moisture and shine
2. Oil for the scalp
3. A little flaxseed gel to redefine any loose curls/fuzzy areas
4. A retwist in the front (to redefine any loose curls/fuzzy areas)
5. NEVER A COMB OR BRUSH ONLY DURING A RETWIST!!!!!!!!

I like the movement of this style as the fine spiral strands bounce away and separate with one shake. It's a controlled funky fro.
